Bessye Frances (Ronk) Rodgers passed away on April 8, 2017 at Hospice of the Panhandle after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Born on June 1, 1939 she was the daughter of Hugh and Margaret (Jones) Ronk.
She is a 1956 graduate of Martinsburg High School where she served as a cheerleader.
She was a retired special needs teacher’s aide from Washington County, Maryland having worked at Maugansville and Funkstown Elementary Schools.
She was the matriarch of her family where they would gather every Sunday, especially during the summer where they all gathered around the pool.
She is survived by her husband Lawrence “Sonny” Rodgers of Falling Waters. Son William “Scott” Rodgers and wife Sin of Falling Waters. Daughter Hope Crites and husband Steve of Martinsburg. Three grandsons, Daniel and Timothy (T.L) Rodgers and Colton Crites. Two step sons, Lawrence William Rodgers Jr. and Harry Alan Rodgers both of Gainesville, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents as well as sisters, Margaret (Ronk) Gregory, Marie (Ronk) Jacobs, Ellen (Ronk) Albright and Dora (Ronk) Ware.
Family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Brown Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 12 noon at St. John's Lutheran Church with Rev. Matthew Day officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Panhandle or Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Martinsburg.
