Obituary for Edward "Eddie" Porturica

Edward "Eddie"  Porturica
Edward "Eddie" Porturica, 76, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, April 8, 2017. As a man of God, he lived his entire life serving his Creator, his family, and his country.

It is with the richest of memories he is survived by his beloved wife Celeste Greco Porturica, son, Michael Porturica and children Hannah and Joseph of Leesburg, VA, daughter Michelle Porturica Palmer and Todd and their son Dean of Ellicott City, MD, daughter Angela Porturica Bates and Kenneth and their daughter Giuliana of Leesburg, VA, dear sister Mary Porturica Avey and Bruce with their son Bruce Jr. of Martinsburg, nephews Jeff, Steven, and Joseph Porturica, and mother-in-law Patty Greco of Fairmont, WV. In addition to his immediate family, he brought immense joy and laughter to many extended family members including cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews. He will be tremendously missed by all, but especially by his four legged buddies, Jaq and Gus.

He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Catherine Porturica, brother, Donald Porturica, P. Joann Saladini Porturica, and Kathleen Moeling Porturica.

His active life included being a member of St. Leo Catholic Church, previous member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, volunteer at C-CAP, Meals on Wheels and City Hospital. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Elks, American Legion, and Martinsburg Band Boosters. He found joy in planning and organizing golf tournaments to benefit local groups and causes that impacted his hometown community of Martinsburg.

After his retirement from the U.S. Air Force in 2000, Eddie could be found playing golf with his closest friends or spending time as honorary Produce Manager at the Petrucci Market.

Family will receive friends Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Brown Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at St. Leo Catholic Church with Father Alfred Obiudu Celebrant. Interment Prayers with Military Graveside Service will be given at Rosedale Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be directed to St. Leo Catholic Church, P.O. Box 63 Inwood, WV 25428, in memory of Edward Porturica.
