Obituary for Carolee C. Cooke (Green)

Carolee C. Cooke, 82, of Martinsburg, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 20, 2017 in the Winchester Medical Center.

Born on July 10, 1934 in Martinsburg, WV, Carolee was the daughter of the late Noah Green and Ahry (Daugherty) Green.

Carolee was married to the late David "Garfield" Cooke.

She is survived by 2 daughters: Michelle Cooke of Martinsburg, WV and Kristal Cooke of Columbia, MD.

Carolee was a very dedicated "life-long" member of the Destiny Baptist Church in Martinsburg, WV.

After graduating from Ramer School in Martinsburg, Carolee attended Shepherd College. She also attended the Madame C. J. Walker Beauty School in Washington, DC. then went on to earn a certificate from James Rumsey (Martinsburg).

Carolee worked at the Dept. of Veteran Affairs in Martinsburg and proudly retired in 2015 after serving our nation's veterans for 50 years.

In addition to spending precious time with her 2 daughters and family pet (Kelci), Carolee enjoyed travelling to new places and had a great passion for shopping.

Carolee is preceded in death by 5 brothers - Joseph Green, Warnell Green, Edison Green, Loyal Green and Phillip Green and 2 sisters - Ida Bell Green and June (Green) Johnson.

In addition to in-laws Mary and Robert Cross (Winchester, VA); Ida Mae Green (Ranson, WV); Elizabeth Cooke (Winchester, VA); Lorraine Reed (Berryville, VA) and Christine Cooke (Washington, DC), Carolee leaves a host of loving nieces, nephews and friends.

The family will receive friends at 11:00 am on Monday, March 27, 2017, at Destiny Baptist Church. Funeral services, which will also be held at Destiny Baptist Church, will immediately follow at 11:30 am.

Interment will be in the Mt Hope Cemetery (Martinsburg).

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Browns Funeral Home in Martinsburg, WV.
