Obituary for William Aikens Jr.

William Aikens Jr.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that William Boyd Aikens, Jr., of Hedgesville passed away peacefully on March 16, 2017.
Born May 13, 1929 in Martinsburg, WV he was the son of the late William Boyd Aikens, Sr. and Lucy Mae Hedges Aikens.
He was a graduate of Martinsburg High School class of 1948. He then furthered his education at West Virginia University. After attending West Virginia University, he returned home to become a self-employed dairy farmer and served on many boards and committees, even after retiring. He never met a stranger, whether they had two legs or four, and would always say "I never have a bad day". He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Emily Jane Russler Aikens; one son, William B. Aikens, III and wife, Rebecca of Falling Waters; granddaughter, Erica L. Aikens of Falling Waters; one brother, Charles L. Aikens and wife, Eleanor of Missouri; and cousins, Sarah C. Abrell Barnes of Los Angeles, CA, David Lane of Virginia, and Ann Jewer of Hanover, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends on Monday, March 20, 2017 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Brown Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Bowers officiating. Interment will be in Rosedale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430 or a charity of one's choice.
