Thelma Abshire  Bennett
Thelma Abshire Bennett, 88, Bunker Hill, WV, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2017.

Born May 11, 1929 in Berkeley County, WV, she was the daughter of the late Ernest S. and Lyda M. Slonaker Abshire.

She was formerly employed at 3M co. in Middleway, WV. She was a volunteer at C-Cap and Loaves and Fishes; and had been a poll worker since 1982.

Thelma was a member of the Gerrardstown United Methodist Church, where she had served as a youth leader, Sunday school teacher, and had served on different programs at the church.

She is survived by one son, Terry Wayne Bennett and wife, Debbie; one daughter, Debbie Ann Collis and husband, Daniel; five grandchildren, Deanna Kendig and husband, Adam, Dayna Boyles and husband, Trampus, Timothy Collis, Blake Bennett and wife, Danielle, Alex Bennett and wife, Kristin; nine great-grandchildren, Conner, Kaycee and Baylee Reardon, Hawk Kendig, Taryn and Makinley Boyles, Kennedi and Sean Bennett, and Morgan Bennett; one brother, Kenneth Abshire and his wife, Edna; and one sister-in-law, Darlene Allen and husband, Wallace.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Bennett, and two brothers, Richard (Dick) Abshire, and Donald Abshire.

The family would like to express their appreciation for Thelma's dedicated caregiver team, Irene Allen, Marcy Agustus, Denise Twyman, and Angela Jackson.

Family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 2:00PM at the Gerrardstown United Methodist Church with Pastor Gary Sieglein officiating. Interment will be in Gerrardstown Presbyterian Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Gerrardstown United Methodist Church, 110 Dominion Road, Gerardstown, WV 25420.
