Wayne Thomas  Grove
Wayne Thomas Grove, 84, of Martinsburg, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at his residence.

Born May 18, 1933, he was a lifelong resident of Martinsburg, and the son of the late Thomas Lewis and Hazel
Roney Grove.

He was a retired letter carrier from the United States Postal Service after 34 years of service.

As an active member in the community he held various offices in his church, Otterbein United Methodist Church, served as treasurer of Little League and was one of the founders of Martinsburg Pony League.

He attended local schools and graduated from Martinsburg High School in 1951.

He served in the U.S. Naval Air, Fighter Squad 34, during the Korean Conflict from 1951 to 1956.

Wayne is survived by his wife, of 61 years, Betty Lee Mason Grove just celebrating their anniversary on June 23, a son, Capt. Todd W. Grove, Ret. USAF, and wife, Dr. Kathy Grove of Helotes, Texas; and three grandchildren, Sarah K., Kyle D., and Ryan M. Grove; a sister, Norma Jean Butts of Martinsburg; a nephew, Brad Butts; and two nieces, Cathy Butts and Linda Grove Sharkey of Williamsburg, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert B. “Smokey” Grove; a brother-in-law, Robert N. Butts, and a niece, Lorna Butts..

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00PM at Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 10:00AM at Brown Funeral Home. Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens with graveside Military honors.
