It is with great sadness that the family of Benjamin Dexter Jones , age 86, announces his passing on Friday, June 2, 2017 after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his family at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

Benjamin was born on May 17, 1931 in Baltimore, MD to Arthur and Lillian Jones.

He leaves his wife of 66 years, Elinor (Petie) Jones; his two sons Clifford Dexter and Steven Michael; his daughter, Sandra Kimberly Dixon; Steven’s wife Margaret and Sandra’s husband Chris; grandchildren Zachary and Allison Dixon and Benjamin and William Jones. He also leaves his brother Arthur Lee Jones and sister-in-law Judy Jones, wife to brother Stanley Jones , who preceded him in death in December 2016.

Benjamin served in the US Army during the Korean War and later moved to Catonsville, Maryland. He and Elinor retired to Shepherdstown, West Virginia.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at 2:00pm at New Street United Methodist Church, 202 West New Street (corner of Church and New Streets) Shepherdstown, WV 25443. Refreshments will be served after the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Street United Methodist Church, 202 West New Street, P.O. Box 188, Shepherdstown, WV 25443.
