Earl  Ray  Unger Sr.
Earl Ray Unger, Sr., 82, of Inwood, passed away on Sunday, May 28, 2017 at the Berkeley Medical Center.
Born May 14, 1935 in Berkeley County, WV he was the son of the late Kilmer Donald and Harriett Virginia Dyche Unger.
Earl loved America, and served in the Army National Guard.
He was a member of Winchester Avenue Christian Church where he had served as a deacon.
Earl retired from 3M after 32 years. Earl enjoyed gardening, was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, and hunting with his many friends, and family. Earl never met a stranger, and loved regaling people with his stories. He was a life-time member of the NRA, and a member of the North American Hunting Club.
Earl loved the Musselman Appleman, the Washington Redskins, and Nats.
He was well-known as "The Voice of the Appleman" for 29 years, and served as the president of the Musselman Appleman Football Boosters. For numerous years, Earl served as a volunteer firefighter with the South Berkeley Volunteer Fire.
Earl is survived by his wife, Edna V. Siler Unger; two sons, Earl Ray Unger, Jr. and wife, Jan Raney Unger; Brad Cameron Unger and Christi Martin; one daughter, Resa Christine Aikens and husband, Jimmie. He was known as Pop Pop to his six grandchildren, C.J. Aikens wife, Katie and family, Jennifer Brooke Kyle and husband, Justin and family, Rachel Marie Eiker and husband John and family, Whitney Janae Poffenberger and husband, Nick and family, Morganne Kelsey Unger, and Loren MaKenzie Unger; and his twelve great-grandchildren including two more on the way. His sister, Yvonne Burgan and husband, Richard; and three sisters-in-law, Doris Anderson, Aldena "Corkey" Bender, and Norma Siler; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 2:00 pm at the New Life Community Church, 4102 Tabler Station Road, Inwood, WV.`
