Obituary for Dorothy Brandenburg Ware

Dorothy Brandenburg Ware, 91, of Boca Raton, Florida, formerly of Martinsburg, went to be with the Lord on April 24, 2017.

Born January 15, 1926 in Martinsburg, she was the daughter of the late George Emory Brandenburg and Mary Katherine Grabil Brandenburg.

She taught math as well as Geometry and Trigonometry at Martinsburg High School from 1951-1982 and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She received her master’s degree in counseling from Shippensburg University, was an alumni of Shepherd College Class of 1948, and Bunker Hill High School, Class of 1944.

She was a 4-H Leader, a lover and supporter of nature and wildlife; and traveled out West with family and friends on camping trips on an annual basis.

She is survived by her daughter, Elisa "Lisa" Brandenburg Ruff, of Boca Raton, FL and granddaughter, Delanya Chelsey Ruff.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 from 6:00PMto 8:00PM at Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at 3:30PM at the funeral home with Rev. Matthew A. Day officiating. Interment will be private in Rosedale Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 101 W. Martin Street, Martinsburg, WV 25401 or Berkeley County Humane Society, 554 Charles Town Rd., Martinsburg WV 25405.
