The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Ret. Condolence From: Gerald B. File, Major, USMC
Condolence: I was saddened to read of the death of Elie. I first met him when we were lieutenants with the 1st Battalion, 11th Marines at Camp Pendleton, California in October 1962. Shortly after my reporting in, we mounted out as part of a Navy/Marine Corps task force to participate in the Cuban Missle Crisis going through the Panama Canal to potentially land to reinforce the Base at Guantanamo Bay. As the Adjutant and Personnel Officer, Elie was under enormous pressure to fulfill the requirements of the firing batteries as well as the Battalion staff. He performed this task extraordinarily well and earned the respect and admiration of all of us! About 15 years later, as a Major on reserve training at Camp Lejeune for 2 weeks, I was assigned to the artlllery battalion which he commanded. From my observations, he was highly regarded by both the troops he commanded as well as his staff officers. The Marine Corps has been fortunate to have officers and dynamic leaders such as Elie and I have always believed that the law professions loss was the Marine Corps gain! Condolence: Please except my condolences on the loss of your dear loved one, I pray that your family will find comfort in the God of all comfort Jehovah. I too have suffered the pain of death, and it is never easy to say goodbye to those we love, however I was able to find much hope in Gods word the bible. Isaiah 33:24 And no resident will say: "I am sick" The people dwelling in the land will be pardoned for their error. Revelations 21:4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away... What a wonderful time it will be when no one will ever get sick or die again.
