Obituary for Ret. Lt. Col. Elie Mitchel Asanovich

Ret. Lt. Col. Elie Mitchel Asanovich, 86, of Shenandoah Junction passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017 at the VA Medical Center.

Born April 8, 1931 in San Francisco, CA he was the son of the late Michel Asanovich and Mileva "Melva" Gurovich Asanovich.

He is retired for the US Marine Corps and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Marijke Munch Asanovich; his sons, Erik R. Asanovich and wife, Jennifer of Martinsburg, and Mark M. Asanovich and wife, Rebecca of Gainsville, VA; daughters, Kristin M. Knight and husband, James of Blacksburg, VA, and Gabrielle C. Roth and husband, Kevin of Haymarket, VA; grandchildren, Brianna and Emma Knight, Dylan and Logan Roth, Katherine and Matthew Asanovich, and Hanna, Claire and Ethan Asanovich; and a sister, Madeleine Thomas and husband, Joseph of Novato, CA.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 11:00AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Eric Hall celebrant.

Interment prayers will be said at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery.
