Obituary for Jeffery Lynn "Coach Jeff" Nichols

Jeffery Lynn "Coach Jeff" Nichols
Jeffery Lynn Nichols, 68, of Martinsburg, WV passed away April 13, 2017 at the VA Medical Center.

Born January 19, 1949 in Martinsburg, WV he was the son of the late William Lee and Coral Josephine (Wild) Nichols.

Jeff touched many lives with his quick wit and humorous sayings. He wore many hats, but those that fit him best was the love of his family and friends, and his dedication to area Little Leaguers. His passion was baseball and he loved teaching kids to play and respect the game. He was a long-time coach in the Martinsburg Little League, winning two State Championships (1989 and 1991), and served as the Administrator for District 6 in West Virginia.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Ellen, son Jeff; daughters Susan Allen (Ronnie) and Shelly Caruthers (Dan); 5 grandchildren: Tiffany "Nikki" Shamburg (Robert), Phillip Ours, Lauren Nichols, Brooke Ours and Sierra Nichols; and a great granddaughter Jenna Shamburg; sisters Michaela Kursey (Floyd) and Sandra Jones; a brother George Dearing; his aunt Jacqueline Lord; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and a very special "old bud", Larry Hart who shared many memories with Jeff on and off the ball field.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on May 20, 2017, at Brown Funeral Home with Pastor Craig Dearing officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Jeff's name to the Martinsburg Little League, P. O. Box 931, Martinsburg, WV 25402, or any Little League organization of choice.
