Obituary for Patsy Hess

The ‘life of the party’ may have exited this world but heaven became a lot livelier when the angels announced the arrival of Patsy Hess on Monday, April 17th, after a brief illness.

Born in Berkeley County, WV on May 5, 1937, she was the daughter of William and Leota (Slonaker) Marpole. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, John L. Hess, Jr.

She was a homemaker, outstanding wife, mother and Mammy. She was an active member of the Living Waters Family Worship Center and sincerely loved her church family. Patsy was a proud member of the Musselman High School Class of 1955 and maintained lifelong friendships with her High School girl friends.

She is survived by daughter, Sharon Webb and husband, Randy, Gaye Toms and husband, Gary; son John Hess and wife, Katie; grandchildren, Trevor Webb and wife, Sophia, Rachael, Amy and Gary Lee Toms and his wife, Daniella, Luke Hess and Daniel Coffman; great-grandchildren, Axel Webb and Gia Toms. She was a Nana to Laura Beth and Lucas Miller. Also surviving are her sisters, Polly Foster and Ruth Miller, and brother, Larry Marpole. She has numerous nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly, a dear friend and neighbor who was like a son to her, Guy Greenfield, and her sister-in-law and close friend, Barb Greenfield.

She was preceded in death by siblings Rev Louise Barrett, Eleanor Self, Wilda Newbraugh, Harold Marpole, Spencer Marpole, and Lyle Marpole, and grandchild Samantha Hess.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM and Friday, April 21, 2017 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at the Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood

A celebration of life will be held at Faith Tabernacle on Saturday, April 22 at 1:00PM followed by graveside services at Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
