Sheila Mae  Collis (Detamore)
Sheila Mae Collis, 89, of Martinsburg, passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2017, at the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility.
Born, April 5, 1927 in White Sulphur Springs, she was the daughter of the late Henderson Smith and Tracy Hoover Detamore.
She retired from the National Security Agency. In her position at the agency she saw the photos of the Cuban missiles before President Kennedy saw them. In 1976, she and her husband, became farmers in Berkeley County after having been top flight Washingtonians for many years.
She is survived by her daughter, Vickie C. Stedman and husband, David; one grandson, Jason Stedman and wife, Lisa; great-granddaughter, Julia Stedman; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Porter Collis; two brothers, Dirk and Richard; and five sisters, Genevieve, Jeweline, Loretta, Gladys, and Faye.
The family wishes to thank all of the staff and volunteers at Hospice for their countless hours of devotion and care for Sheila.
Family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Brown Funeral Home. Services and interment are private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430.
