Obituary for Geraldine Lopes Braithwaite

Geraldine Lopes Braithwaite, 86, of Martinsburg, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Journey's Crossing, Elkton, VA.

Born November 28, 1930 in Oakland, California, she was the daughter of the late Pedro Lopes and Jenny Kline Lopes.

She retired from GM as a utility worker.

She is survived by her one son, David W. Braithwaite and wife, Beth, of Martinsburg; daughter, Linda S. Farrell, of Harrisonburg, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Angela, Lillian, Zane and Sada Braithwaite, Ryan Farrell and wife Stephanie, Kelsey Ritenour and husband Matt, and Joseph Hill; four great grandchildren, Grayson and Reed Farrell and Audrey and Lydia Ritenour; and two brothers, Alfred Lopes of Oakland, and George Lopes of Fremont, California.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Frederick Braithwaite on July 20, 2012; son, Frederick J. Braithwaite; brother, Walter Lopes, and two sisters, Marie Plemmons and Elaine Haliquist.

Family will receive friends Wednesday, March 1, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Brown Funeral Home’s South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood, WV.

Services will be held 1:00 pm, Thursday, March 2, 2017 at South Berkeley Chapel with Rev. Dr. Randall Tremba officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens
