Obituary for Harry Lester Ray

Harry Lester Ray, 88 of Ranson, West Virginia passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017 in the Hospice Inpatient Facility surrounded by his loving family. Born December 21, 1928 in Rose Hill, Virginia he was the son of the late James Henry Ray and Elizabeth Frances Hill Ray. He was a member of the Grace Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church. He worked at Womack Pest Control for 30 years before retiring. Harry was a past member of the Rockville Moose Lodge, was an avid hunter, fisherman, had a green thumb for his vegetables and flowers. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Emma Mae Waddell Ray, two sons, Roland Ray and wife Janet of Damascus, Maryland and Raymond Ray and wife Betty of Cascade, Maryland, four daughters, Yvonne Miller of Martinsburg, Mary Lee and husband Bob of Ranson, Delores Victor of Schertz, Texas and Angie Casterlin and husband David of Frederick, Maryland, one brother, Robert Ray of Rose Hill, Virginia, two sisters, Lee Palmore of Richmond, Virginia and Marie Nichols of Rose Hill, Virginia, eighteen grandchildren and twenty one great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Willa Dean McCurry, grandson, Christopher Victor, six brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at the Grace Fellowship Free Will Baptist Church with the Pastor Tom Blake and Pastor James Williams officiating. Interment will be in the Rosedale Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430.
