Obituary for Donald William Rogers


Donald William Rogers, 86, of Inwood, went to be with his Lord and daughter, on Friday, February 10, 2017, at Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility.
Born September 2, 1930, he was the son of the late Oswald Rogers and Ethel Abe Rogers.
He was a member of the Mountain View Church of the Brethren. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean War as a PFC.
Donald retired from General Electric and was an avid farmer.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Irene Elizabeth Shoemaker Rogers, one son, Michael Lee Rogers, two grandchildren, Nathan Rogers, Vanessa Childers, five great grandchildren, Logan, Megan, and Aubreigh Rogers, Emalie and Amelia Childers.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Sue Rogers, two brothers, Raymond and Chester Rogers and a sister Dorothy Cleaver.
He was a devoted and loving father and grandfather to many others and he loved farming.
Family will receive friends Tuesday, February 14, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Mountain View Church of the Brethren.
Services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the Mountain View Church of the Brethren with Pastor Michael Staubs officiating. Interment will be held in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV 25430.
