Ida Lee  Waters
Ida Lee Waters, 88, of Sharpsburg, MD passed away on Friday, February 3, 2017 at the Fahrney Keedy Nursing Home in Boonsboro, MD.
Born August 6, 1928 in Dargan, MD she was the daughter of the late Boyd Luther and Essie Irene Gay Waters.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family of seven siblings.
She was of protestant faith.
She was a wonderful mother to her four surviving children, Joyce Marie Waters of Keedysville, MD; twins Bonnie Harris Smallwood and husband, Richard and Gary Harris and wife, JoAnn of Dargan; and Donna Exline Gray and husband, Ernie with whom she resided for the past 22 years; eight grandchildren, Dwayne Harmon and wife, Kendra, Larry Harmon and wife, Heidi, Richard Smallwood, Jr. and wife Amy, Tara Smallwood Delauney and husband, Joe, Tiffany Gray Paugh and husband, Steve, Ashley Gray Dycus and husband, Jeremiah, Gary Harris, Jr., Jennifer Harris, and twenty five great-grandchildren (she considered all of them a real blessing); Gerldine Waters, special sister-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her three brothers, George Luther Waters, Lloyd Melton "Bullneck" Waters; and Raymond Nelson Waters; and three sisters, Mary Irene Waters Cronise, Francis Ercel Waters Dunn, and Sylvia Bell Waters in infancy.
Ida worked over 50 years in various employments to include: Fairchild Industries, Hanover Shoe Co., Victor Products, and at Dulles Airport. She was instrumental in starting the first ladies auxiliary at the Potomac Valley Fire Company in 1968 and worked diligently in that company in various positions for approximately 25 years volunteering her free time.
Her greatest pleasures came from cooking for her children and all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren especially big breakfast meals. She is also known for making the best homemade fudge and candies especially during Christmas Holidays and was known for her NY style cheesecake.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 5, 2017 from 2:00PM to 4:00PM at the Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg, WV.
Graveside service will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 11:00AM with the Rev. Roger Martin officiating at the Samples Manor Church of God Cemetery in Dargan, MD.
