Obituary for Daniel Webster Hendricks III

Daniel Webster Hendricks, III, 81, of Martinsburg passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Born May 30, 1935 in Charles Town, WV he was the son of the late Daniel Webster Hendricks, Jr. and Margaret Polhamus Hendricks Myers.

He was a member of Williams Memorial United Methodist Church for over 50 years; where he was superintendent, and taught Sunday School, and served in various other positions in the church. He was also a member of the Elk Branch Masonic Lodge for over 50 years in Shenandoah Junction. He was owner/operator of Hendricks Grocery for 43 years in Shenandoah Junction. Prior to opening the store he worked in the aircraft industry.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Peggy Boyd Hendricks; one daughter, Dana Anders and husband, Clayton of Shenandoah Junction; three grandchildren, Dara Englebright of Martinsburg, Clay Anders of Shepherdstown, and Carly Anders of California, and three sisters, Sara Potter, Mary Ellen Pastor and husband, Steve, and Suzanne Ramsey and husband, Bill all of California.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia Englebright; step-father, Jay Clive Myers and foster son, Jerry Glassford.

Memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Williams Memorial United Methodist Church in Shenandoah Junction with Dr. Parker Hinzman officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Williams Memorial United Methodist Church c/o Parker Hinzman, 3415 Kearneysville Pike, Shepherdstown, WV 25443.
