Obituary for Charles Albert Hensell

Charles Albert  Hensell
Charles A. Hensell, 74, of Martinsburg passed away on Friday, January 6, 2017 at the Hospice of the Panhandle Inpatient Facility.

Born April 16, 1942 in Martinsburg, WV he was the son of the late Charles W. "Chippy" Hensell and Dorothy Sanders Hensell.

He was a lifetime member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Martinsburg.

Charles was a graduate of Virginia Episcopal School where he was a basketball player. He was a graduate of Strayer College. Mr. Hensell had served on the board of directors with Kings Daughters Court, Citizens National Bank, One Valley Bank, BB&T, and Farmers and Mechanics Insurance. He also served on the Berkeley County Industrial Authority. He was a member of the Tuscarora Kurnals. He was a broker/owner of Hensell Realty, a sixty plus year family owned business. Along with his father and then son he was an auction clerk with Hensell and Hensell for over 35 years.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Margie" Skelly Hensell; one son, Charles "Chip" Hensell, III and wife, Karen and their daughters, Maggie and Ella; one daughter, Mary Jane Heffle and husband, Richard and their sons, Jordan and Chase; two sisters, Sylvia Hoke and Ruth Ann Dalton; a number of nieces and nephews; and special group of golfing and tennis buddies. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. and Mrs. Tim Bowers and Hospice of the Panhandle for their guidance.

Family will receive friends on Friday, January 13, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church with The Rev. Julie Harris officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hensell-Heffle Berkeley County Youth Fund at Eastern WV Community Foundation, 229 E. Martin Street, Martinsburg, WV 25401 or the charity of one's choice.
