Floyd Preston  Owens
Floyd Preston Owens, 82, of Falling Waters, passed away on Sunday January 1, 2017 at his home.
Born October 28, 1934, in Bunker Hill, WV, he was the son of the late Guy Homer Owens and Elsie Elizabeth Shipe.
He was a member of the Harmony United Methodist Church.
His work life included 20 years retirement from Grand Union as the manager of the meat department. He also worked many years in transportation industry and was adverse in driving tractor trailers and heavy construction equipment.
He was a Veteran of all three branches of the Armed Forces, the Marines, Army, and the Air Force with honorable discharge from all branches and a retiring rank of Master Sergeant.
He was a life member of the Loyal Order of the Moose of Martinsburg, WV Lodge #120 and life member of the Maryland Am Vets Post #10 American Legion 20 years, Post #14 United Commercial Travelers for 25 years.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Katharine Landis Owens; two sons, Robert David Owens and wife Melody, James Preston Owens and wife, Julie, grandchildren, Jennifer Ann Owens, Nicholas James Owens; great grandson, Carter Anthony Shawyer; one sister, Hazel V. Owens Smith of Martinsburg; and one brother, Homer B. Owens of Bunker Hill. He also will be sadly missed by pets, one dog, Peanut II, and two cats, Smoke and Miss Clara Belle Owens.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Vernon L. Owens and Kenneth A. Owens, also stepmother, Pearl DeHaven Owens
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, January 5, 2017 at the Brown Funeral Home in Martinsburg, WV with Rev. Terri Cofiell officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens.
Family will receive friends and family Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home in Martinsburg.
