G. Edward Frye
G. Edward Frye, 90, of Martinsburg, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday November 26, 2016, with his wife by his side.

Born March 13, 1926 in Back Creek Valley, he was the son of the late Bernard S. Frye and Maude Marie Dick Frye.

He was retired from C&P Telephone Company after 35 years. In retirement, he enjoyed working on an orchard, driving a dump truck for his son’s business, and would often be seen mowing his yard well into his late 80s.

He was a 1944 graduate of Hedgesville High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having spent two years in Germany during 1952-1954 as a telecommunications specialist.

Throughout his long life, he maintained a strong faith and was a loyal servant both to his Lord, his church, and his family. He was married at Pikeside United Methodist Church and loved singing in the church choir and serving as a deacon and treasurer. In his later years, he was a member of Tuscarora Presbyterian Church, where he was also a choir member.

He enjoyed farming, including running and maintaining a peach orchard, taking care of his cattle, hunting, and spending time with his family.

He will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 67 years, Katy Whitacre Frye; three sons, Michael Frye and wife, Kristi of Inwood, Patrick Frye, of Petersburg, and Mark Frye and wife, Heather of Martinsburg; seven grandchildren, Adam Frye, Matthew Frye, Blake Frye and wife, Courtney, Katy Miller and husband, Geoffrey, Megan Griffin and husband, Kevin, Mason Frye, and George David Frye; one great-grandson, Parker Griffin; one sister, Mary Ann Rogers; two sisters in-law, Cora Frye and Roxena Frye.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert “Bob” Frye and Richard “Dick” Frye.

Funeral services will be held Thursday December 1, 2016, at 2:00 PM at Brown Funeral Home South Berkeley Chapel in Inwood with Rev. John Cushwa and Rev. Rachel Crumley officiating. The family will hold private military graveside services..
