Obituary for John Francis "Jack" Zapf, Jr.

John "Jack" Francis Zapf, Jr., 76, went to Heaven with Jesus on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Berkeley Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
Born November 5, 1937 in Philadelphia, PA he was the son of the late John Francis Zapf, Sr. and Mildred Yetter Zapf.
He had served in the US Air Force Intelligence Department as a Russian Interpreter.
He was a member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church.
He retired after 40 years with the phone company; and later had worked for Boater's World. He volunteered 28 years with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary where he had served several times as commander. He was a member of the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. He was a HAM operator with the Old Barney Amateur Radio Club with call letters of WR2X.
He was a loving and devoted husband and father survived by his wife of 50 years, Regina "Jeanie" McMullen Zapf; three sons, John "Jack" Zapf, III of Forked River, NJ, Dan Zapf of Merritt Island, FL, Ed Zapf of Little Egg Harbor, NJ; two daughters, Sharon Yepello of Martinsburg and Maureen Huber of Pemberton, NJ; five grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Anne Forster of Catawissa, PA.
Family will receive friends 10:00AM to 11:00AM prior to the Memorial Mass on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 11:00AM at the St. Bernadette Catholic Church with Father George Pucciarelli celebrant. Interment prayers will be said along with military honors in St. Leo Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in memory of John F. Zapf Jr., to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.
